about

Three years later and it finally emerges! The Dizzy Knight project was one I was approached with way back in 2015. The idea was simply to create a 16bit SNES style soundtrack, and a bunch of original SNES style sound effects.

I'll be the first to admit that back in 2015, I did not know nearly as much about SNES aesthetics as I do now, but at the time I fully immersed myself in the sounds and the techniques. This soundtrack was in many ways my first chance at really experimenting with the SNES sound engine, and what sort of stuff I could create with it.

As a result, this is a very eclectic collection of pleasant and bizarre tracks that go everywhere from Chic (the band) to metal (the genre).

I was not necessarily given too much direction either, which is both a joy and a curse. A lot of these tracks kind of fell out of my brain and were not polished in to a shining smooth stone. These are jagged rough weird pieces with flaws and unusual choices, that after 3 years sound so alien to me.

A lot of time has passed since I initially wrote these tracks, to a point where I can't quite remember where my mind was at when I was making the soundtrack for this game. This is a fairly raw Norrin_Radd experience, that kind of reminds me of an SNES follow up to Melodia di Infinita in some ways. At least from the creative mindset.

If you are sick of hearing that modern polished Norrin_Radd sound, dig in and enjoy some brutally honest and raw musical ideas from a well worn retro video game goofball.
